Undergraduate Education
  • Named MSE Instructional Laboratories
    ($450,000 in current use funds); funds would be used to purchase a variety of new equipment (Keithley source meters ($20K), DI water filtration system ($6K), high temperature furnace ($15K), scanning electron microscope ($90K), manual probe station ($30K), experimental stations for characterization of nanoscale devices and materials ($55K), etc.) which would dramatically increase the capability and functionality of our undergraduate lab courses.
  • Named Endowed Research Fund
    Provides Support in perpetuity for undergraduate research activities within the MS&E Department.
$100,000 minimum endowment
  • Travel Funds
    Support undergraduate student travel to national research conferences and other important professional development activities.
  • Junior Class Awards
    Funds will be used for annual cash prizes to juniors demonstrating outstanding academic achievement.
  • Endowed Chair of MSE

  • Endowed Professorships
    Strategy research areas include Energy Production and Storage, Electronics and Photonics, Bioinspired Materials and Systems, and Green Technologies.

Capital Projects
  • Named Instructional Laboratory
    Support the renovation of the Bard Hall instructional laboratory to modernize and meet space challenges associated with growing class sizes.


Program Support
  • Named Endowed Lecturer
    Lecturers enhance our capacity to deliver excellent teaching to our students. We seek funding for an endowed lecturer position that will provide instruction in a new MS&E design course and the MSE senior lab course each year.
$2.5 Million minimum endowment
  • Undergraduate Research Support
    Gifts of all sizes that support MSE undergraduate lab instruction provide students an opportunity to develop their research skills. Endowed funds to support this initiative may also be established with a minimum gift of $100,000.

  • MSE Innovation Prizes
    Annual prizes for “excellence in research” awarded to Ph.D. students and post-docs.

MSE Annual Fund – unrestricted gifts of any amount may be directed to the MSE department and will provide the Chair the flexibility to support the priorities listed above, seize other opportunities and address challenges at their discretion.
